ARM unveiled the nature of its new DynamIQ technology back in March, but with the announcement of the company’s new Cortex-A75 and A55 CPU cores, we now have a much clearer picture about the capabilities offered by ARM’s next-gen multi-core SoC solution.
Starting at the basics, DynamIQ is a new take on multi-core processing for ARM’s CPU cores. In previous arrangements, SoC designers utilizing ARM’s big.LITTLE technology were required to use multiple core clusters to mix between CPU core micro-architectures, and these could suffer a slight performance penalty when moving data between clusters across the CCI interconnect. In other words, your octa-core big.LITTLE CPU could [...]
Today, ARM has lifted the lid on three new products that are dead certain to be heading to next generation mobile devices. The company has unveiled two new CPU designs, the high performance Cortex-A75 and energy efficiency Cortex-A55, alongside a more efficient Mali-G72 GPU. These new components are the successors to ARM’s existing Cortex-A73 and A-53 CPUs, and its high-end Mali-G71 GPU that are found inside a wide selection of today’s mobile devices.See also: ARM’s DynamIQ is the future of multi-core SoCs March 21, 2017
