Asus’ Tango-supported ZenFone AR coming to US in July

We knew that the ZenFone AR would be hitting the shelves sometime this summer, but now we have a more precise timeframe of when it would be launching in the US. The company CEO has recently confirmed to Engadget that the device will officially debut in Taiwan in mid-June, followed by the US sometime at the end of June or in early July.

Life-like realism, a Pixel AR and going mainstream: catching up with Project Tango

Project Tango has been around for a while, from the developer tablet and demos at MWC and Google I/O to the Lenovo Phab2 Pro and the new Asus Zenfone AR. While we’ve seen it progress quite steadily in that time, we’ve never seen it look as convincing as it did at I/O this week. With the recent announcement that Verizon will carry the Zenfone AR in the U.S., Tango is about to hit the mainstream.

Asus teases phones for CES 2017: new Tango phone and Zenfone 3 Zoom?

CES 2017 is right around the corner and as we start arranging our calendars, OEMs start teasing what to expect. Asus has just done so with a new teaser for its CES reveals, including what looks like hints toward two new smartphone announcements.

The video shows outlines of a device with two different symbols on it: an infinity symbol and a ^ which could be Lambda, a circumflex, carat, turned V, the logical conjunction “and” or Asus’ way of telling us to refer to the comment above. ASUS could reveal its Tango-based ZenFone AR phone at CES 2017

Another smartphone that will use Google’s Tango 3D mapping technology maybe revealed in the near future. A new report claims that ASUS CEO Jerry Shen could reveal that phone, the ZenFone AR, as part of the company’s announcements in early January during the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

This new report comes from Digitimes, who claims this info came directly from Shen. With that said, it’s best if we take this information with a grain of salt.
