Get more for your $40 on Cricket Wireless’ Basic plan with a bump to 4 GB of data

Previously, so long as you forked over $40 a month, Cricket Wireless was more than happy to cough up 3 GB of high-speed data. That allotment is set to change, however, as AT&T’s prepaid subsidiary gives those folks a bit more data to play with on a monthly basis.

Starting tomorrow, May 12, Cricket Wireless’ Basic tier will include 4 GB of high-speed data – a 33-percent increase from before – at no extra charge. Keep in mind that the prepaid service takes off $5 per month if you opt for its auto-pay, bringing the Basic tier down to $35. Similar to T-Mobile’s One plan, that monthly price includes taxes and fees.

Cricket raises data allotments once again, though speed caps remain

Wireless Week

When it comes to prepaid carriers, Cricket Wireless is easily one of the better values you’ll find with generous data polls and low pricing, all on AT&T’s reasonably solid network. In an effort to continue raising the bar to keep up with Tmo and the competition, AT&T’s Cricket is once again raising up the data offered — without changing the costs involved.

While the $30 base plan (1GB) and $50 8GB plan remain the same, starting tomorrow the $40 plan will give you 3GB instead of 2.5, and the $60 plan will jump from 10GB to 12GB.
