Vivo launches Vivo Y69, a mid-range selfie-focused smartphone, in India

Vivo has announced a new smartphone under its mid-range Y series, the Vivo Y69. The smartphone sports a 13 MP camera at the back and a 16 MP Moonlight Selfie Camera.

The Y69 offers several camera modes like Bokeh, Group Selfie, and Live Photo. Vivo’s first smartphone with Live Photo feature allows the rear camera to bring photos to life by creating a moving image.

Smartphone shipment growth was essentially led by Chinese OEMs

Global smartphone shipments saw higher growth than expected during Q1, and it was essentially led by manufacturers like Huawei and OPPO.

According to the latest data released by the International Data Corporation, worldwide smartphone shipments for Q1 of 2017 saw 4.3 percent growth, beating IDC’s previous forecast of 3.6 percent. With devices like the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus and the Galaxy S8 duo, that number is expected to be even higher for Q2.

Huawei, OPPO, and Vivo all saw a double-digit increase, with OPPO seeing almost 30 percent.

Vivo Y66 with 16MP front camera launches in India

In a media event in New Delhi, Vivo launched its latest mid-range smartphone, the Vivo Y66 in India.

Just like the Vivo V5 and the V5 Plus launched in last few months, the Y66 is a selfie-focused smartphone and boasts of a 16MP front camera with ‘Moonlight Glow’ feature. The feature induces a natural glow on the face without straining eyes that lights up the picture irrespective of the lighting conditions.
